April 2009: Dependency Management with Ivy
Maven is well known for providing dependency management, as well as many other build-related features. What if you want dependency management, but don't want or like the Maven cool aid?
Ivy, a subproject of Apache Ant, is dedicated specifically to dependency management. It integrates well with Ant. It can use Maven metadata and fetch dependencies from Maven repositories. Or, you can build a local enterprise repository for your organisation, to manage both external and internal dependencies.
This talk provides an overview of Ivy setup and use. We cover
- How to add Ivy dependency management in your Ant scripts
- How to manage dependencies in your projects
- How to build an enterprise repository
